CSE Crosscom Awarded Rio Tinto West Angelas Contract

PERTH, Australia (CSE Crosscom) 19 February, 2019 – CSE Crosscom, a leading telecommunications integrator, was awarded the design, supply and installation of Rio Tinto’s West Angelas C & D Expansion Telecommunications Project contract in November, 2018.

Projected to reach completion in August 2019, CSE Crosscom won the Project through its EPCM ongoing client relationship with Jacobs Engineering Group, to upgrade the existing analogue remote site communications through a two-phased scope of works.

Phase one of the telecommunications expansion was completed in January 2019 and involved drafting, engineering and design; with part two in progress and incorporating the installation of all telecommunication equipment across Rio Tinto’s C and D deposits.

CSE Crosscom’s major projects team delivered an integrated solution with the core areas of work including but not limited to design engineering, drafting, installation, construction, and onsite technical services. Due to its remote location in Western Australia’s Pilbara, this world class telecommunications project required the successful integration and delivery of telecommunications SKIDS, VMR transceivers and analogue voters, microwave, unlicensed point to point links, onsite tower rigging and radio base station fit outs.

Delivering complex telecommunications infrastructure and systems in a remote and demanding environment like the Pilbara has its challenges, however CSE Crosscom’s track record in safety and operational efficiency has allowed the organisation to meet all compliance and quality expectations set by both Rio Tinto and Jacobs.

CSE Crosscom are approved CAT3 Contractors to Rio Tinto and continue to provide a range of diverse telecommunications services in both Western Australia and Queensland.

The expansion of the existing iron ore mine site will provide a replacement source of iron ore to sustain current capacity and enable continued operation of the existing plant, stockyards and rail loop that link the mine to the Rio Tinto Pilbara network.
