The Client

Bechtel is a respected global engineering, construction, and project management company which was contracted by Rio Tinto to provide EPCM services for the AMRUN project in far north Queensland.

The Challenge

The AMRUN Mine is a greenfield development of Rio Tinto in Queensland’s far north Cape York Peninsula. The project required the construction of a complete mine site including the provision of telecommunications services across a vast area of the mining lease to ensure voice and data communications for both the construction and operational mines personnel whilst adhering to strict health and safety requirements.

The Solution

The overall task was to design and integrate the voice radio communications network across the proposed mining area. To reach these objectives, CSE Crosscom provided a number of communication towers, equipment shelters, and a data backbone which comprised of wireless point to point links and terrestrial fibre optics.
