Project: AMRUN Mine Telecommunications
Location: Cape York Peninsula, Queensland
The AMRUN Mine is a greenfield development of Rio Tinto in Queensland’s far north Cape York Peninsula. The project required the construction of a complete mine site including the provision of telecommunications services across a vast area of the mining lease to ensure voice and data communications for both the construction and operational mines personnel whilst adhering to strict health and safety requirements.
The overall task was to design and integrate the voice radio communications network across the proposed mining area. To reach these objectives, CSE Crosscom provided a number of communication towers, equipment shelters, and a data backbone which comprised of wireless point to point links and terrestrial fibre optics.
The following are the major components comprised of:
- DIMETRA Digital Radio Network
- Communications Huts
- Multiple Towers (70 metres and upwards)
- Facility Radio Systems
- Structured Cabling System
- Voice Recording Systems
- Fibre Optics – network design and the installation (over 40 kilometres)
- Microwave System Design
- VHF & Marine Radio Systems
- Provisions for Future LTE
